The electrolysis chamber

electrolysis chamber

The electrolysis chamber is the heart of ECAIA ionizer S . In the chamber, the water is ionized and given the properties that characterize alkaline ECAIA water.

There are significant differences in the quality of electrolysis chambers, which are not immediately apparent to the untrained eye. And how could they be? The chamber is permanently installed inside the device. This is probably one reason why many manufacturers often cut corners when it comes to this component. A poor-quality ionization chamber often has a short service life and, if not replaced early on, can have serious consequences for the filtered water.

Only the highest quality components are used in the manufacture of the ECAIA ionizer S. The materials are also processed in accordance with the highest quality standards.

ECAIA ionizer S has an ionization chamber with 7 special electrodes made of titanium (purity: 99.99%) generously coated with platinum. Titanium is shiny white-metallic, light, strong, ductile, corrosion-resistant, and temperature-resistant. It is therefore particularly suitable for applications where high corrosion resistance, strength, and low weight are important. Platinum is a silvery-shiny, very tough, and relatively soft transition metal. Thanks to its hardness (according to Mohs) of 4.3, it is more stable than gold and is often used for settings for expensive gemstones. However, the quality of the electrodes is not only determined by the materials used, but above all by the processing technology employed. A particularly complex process is used for the electrodes of the ECAIA ionizer S: electroplating (also known as electroplating). The object to be refined is coated evenly with platinum on all sides. The longer the object remains in the bath and the higher the electrical current, the thicker the platinum layer. The electrodes in ECAIA ionizer S have a particularly thick platinum layer. This ensures that the electrodes remain protected in the long term and that the pure titanium metal does not come into contact with water. This is a subtle but significant difference compared to water ionizers from supposed competitors. Although many manufacturers advertise the use of well-known and extremely precious precious metal plates, the processing is usually not carried out using complex electroplating technology. On the contrary, in most cases the platinum is sprayed on quickly using a rapid process. The consequences are not visible to the naked eye, but are nevertheless devastating: over time, the platinum dissolves. The untreated, pure titanium electrode comes into contact with the drinking water. Another difference to models from other suppliers is that the titanium plates in the ECAIA ionizer are not of the stamped mesh type. When the plates are prepared in this way, they can be easily cleaned of limescale residues if necessary.

Thanks to the high-quality materials used and the electroplated coating, the electrodes offer the following features: high current efficiency, excellent corrosion resistance, exceptional durability, stable voltage, no risk of contamination, and low weight.

This image shows the platinum-coated titanium electrodes of ECAIA ionizer S after several months of use. They are free of limescale deposits, as the patented, fully automatic electrode cleaning system works very reliably in combination with the new mechanical polarity reversal flow technology. This ensures even more efficient ionization performance, especially with hard water. The plates and the power connection plug are stamped from a single piece and coated with platinum all around. An important quality feature.

Thanks to intensive research conducted together with our Korean engineers, we know that there is another criterion that is crucial for the efficiency of ionization performance. In numerous tests, we have found that, in addition to the number, total surface area, and current strength, the distance between the electrodes also plays a major role. What's more, seven electrodes, used in the right combination and size, can be significantly more efficient than nine or more electrodes, as is often advertised!

Research creates a competitive edge. The perfectly coordinated electrolysis units enable maximum ionization performance with filtered water.

The electrolysis chamber is manufactured in accordance with GMP standards.
